Arvixe was once known for their reliability and great customer service. It’s the reason they used to be among my top 5 best web hosts. Unfortunately, times have changed. Since they got bought out by EIG, the once comforting Arvixe reliability has gone out the window.
The account I have with Arvixe has been incredibly unstable lately, both with downtime and loading speeds. Lately, my website has been going down several times a day. It can be anywhere from a couple minutes to hours, but it has become increasingly regular.
The screenshots below are taken from my uptime monitor, Uptime Robot, which shows just how often my Arvixe account has been going down.
These are only the first two pages showing downtime. There are 4 more that I haven’t added because I think I’ve gotten the point across. It’s no surprise that their reliability has gone down the drain. EIG has a proven track record of doing this sort of thing.
Why do they do this, you ask? While I am only speculating, I think my reasoning is pretty logical. It’s all about money. Specifically, it’s about maximizing profits. EIG is a public company which means they have to put the interests of their investors ahead of their customers. They have to try and make the biggest profit possible to keep investors happy. This means overfilling servers, outsourcing support, and offering an overall worse product because of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-big business. Far from it. I am, however, for making sure you provide your customers with the best service possible. This is something that EIG has seemingly forgotten how to do. Instead, their focus is on trying to monopolize web hosting by buying up every successful company and bringing it under their umbrella.
