If the recent SEC filing is correct, EIG is planning on purchasing the India based group Directi for upwards of $100 million. This means that EIG will take over everything under the Directi umbrella which includes BigRock.com, LogicBoxes.com, ResellerClub.com, and more.

This is a big deal. This means EIG is taking over a few more highly-regarded hosting companies, as well as one of the most popular India domain registrars in BigRock.com. This should expand their international reach and add to their already large domain sales as they are owners of Domain.com and Dotster.com.
It’s no secret how I feel about EIG and what they do to web hosting companies that they purchase. Of course, this is still very early in the making and it hasn’t been confirmed which companies EIG will be taking over from Directi, but if the early indicators are true then I would anticipate that many LogicBoxes and ResellerClub customers will be transferring away in anticipation of the service taking a steep turn downward.
Of course, it’s entirely possible that this acquisition will go differently for EIG and the service and support will not go south. I wouldn’t bet on it, though. More details to come as more information is released.
