frontpageListen, I know it’s hard to change to something new when you’re so comfortable with a website builder. It’s difficult to switch when it’s all you’ve known. But Frontpage is a thing of the past. If you’re still using Frontpage it’s time for you to switch to a different program to manage your website.

The fact of the matter is Microsoft themselves discontinued supporting Frontpage in 2006. That’s 9 years ago. That means there have been 0 updates, 0 security patches, 0 new features added, 0 anything done to Frontpage for almost a decade. Most hosting companies have long since stopped offering Frontpage Extensions because cPanel themselves have removed it from the more recent versions.

There are plenty of other options out there that are just as easy to use. It’s time to make the switch. Here are a few suggestions.

1. WordPress

WordPress has been synonymous with online blogging for a long time. It’s also a great, easy to use tool to create a website of any kind. The website you’re on right now was created using WordPress. It’s template based so you can quickly and easily get a website running with minimal knowledge.

2. Joomla

Much like WordPress, Joomla is a website management software that you install directly onto your hosting account. It has an online interface that allows you to manage your pages and is also template based for easy website creation.

3. Your Web Host’s Site Builder

Most web hosting companies will give you a free website builder to use when you sign up with them. These are almost always geared toward beginners and are fairly simple to use. While they might not get you the prettiest website, it will be much better than continuing with Frontpage.

All of these options are free and in the case of WordPress and Joomla they are incredibly popular and updated regularly. It’s important to choose a product that you know will be around for a long time coming so you can avoid having to switch again in the future.
